When you find a remnant or a piece of carpet it will essentially be cut into sections that will be installed end to end giving the appearance of a seamless runner on the stairs. Beginning at the top of the stairs measure a stair tread or landing and transfer the measurement to the back of a piece of carpet with marker or chalk. Near both ends of the tackless strip staple the runner into the crease where riser meets tread.
